The following is an overview of the KUG meeting that took place on the 26th of March, 2004:

Discussion Area:

Reinstating karoo.binaries.

Outcome:

KC agreed to reinstate karoo.binaries directly after the meeting.

Target:

26th March 2004.


Discussion Area:

1mbit/2mbit ADSL services.

Outcome:

1mbit is confirmed for launch on the 1st of April, along with the 256kbit service. A 2mbit service is currently being considered, with a possible July/September launch date, but KC need to identify the demand for such a service.

Target:

Ongoing.


Discussion Area:

Status page developments.

Outcome:

The timescales given will be reviewed, due to them often being inaccurate.

Target:

Ongoing.


Discussion Area:

SPAM.

Outcome:

KC are to conduct an internal meeting to reach a conclusion on the way forward with this issue.

Target:

Feedback to the KUG at the next meeting.


Discussion Area:

ADSL Profiles.

Outcome:

Along with the new 256kbit/1mbit services is a new 500kbit service, which should perform better than the 500kbit service. KC have stated that change-overs will only occur when requested by the user.

Target:

1st April 2004.


Discussion Area:

Wireless hotspots.

Outcome:

KC to investigate the possibility of installing wireless hotspot(s) in Queens Gardens, Hull. Also, partnerships with BT Openzone are being investigated.

Target:

Ongoing.


Discussion Area:

Homepages server.

Outcome:

KUG to draw up a list of desired/required functionality and provide KC with this by the 17th of April.

Target:

Ongoing.


Discussion Area:

Lower length contracts.

Outcome:

Churn is not an issue, so this will be considered by KC.

Target:

Ongoing.


Discussion Area:

Broadband content/BBCi access.

Outcome:

KC are looking to re-design the Karoo Portal, and introducing BBCi access along with a credit based system to broadband content.
