While the KUG is very much focused on Karoo, we are also interested in the state of Internet access as a whole in the KC area. Given that most ISPs operate on BT Wholesale/FRIACO products, the choice in Hull and the surrounding area is certainly limited.

Dial-up

There are many ISPs still offering 0845 Internet access, which are often free accounts where a per minute charge is applicable depending on the time of day you connect, i.e. on/off peak. All 0845 Internet services are compatible with KC landlines.

Broadband

Unfortunately, all attempts to provide Karoo Broadband with some competition have stalled. Both 'Broadband Humber' and 'TJL Broadband' were somewhat doomed from the start with their wireless services. However, the KUG still hopes that someday a company will come along and provide that much needed competition for Karoo.

This list is not definitive as there are many business orientated Internet services available, however no other Internet services for home users are known about or known to be planned by the KUG.
